Conveyor belt parts manufacturers around the world have continued to fine-tune the conveyor system for better performance. To address the needs of companies looking to decrease the cost of maintenance, Luff Industries has created an innovative HMS (High Moisture Seal) and Anti-Lock Shield solution.

Our engineering and design team is committed to producing quality solutions to help reduce maintenance costs and downtime. The HMS and Anti-Lock Shield significantly helps our clients save time and money on breakdowns or equipment repair. Along with helping to reduce conveyor rollers from seizing, the system will also act as a deflection shield against direct moisture pressure, which can be a costly issue.

Luff Industries is a leading name in the conveyor component manufacturing industry, including conveyor idlers, pulleys, impact beds, slider beds, and conveyor belt system accessories.

Return Roller with spillage Idler with material spillage

How the High Moisture Seal & Anti-Lock Shield works

Across a variety of industries and applications, one common conveyor problem is jammed rollers. Material spillage is inevitable in most industrial conveyor applications and is difficult to avoid. However, when material spills over the side of the belt, it may get jammed in between the roller and frame, stopping the roller from spinning. Over time, this can damage the belt and the rollers.

Our High Moisture Seal and Safety Anti-Lock Shield solution allow the roller to turn with ease. The roller rotates freely even if there are material deposits built up around or between the roller end and the frame of the idler. The solution is crafted using flexible, long-lasting durable polymers and can easily be installed in all applications for any industry.

This durable polymer shield is pressed fit onto the shaft and sits inside the endcap, remaining stationary as the roller rotates around it. This creates a fixed end so if the material were to become jammed between the shield and the frame, the rest of the roller would continue to spin. This solution will work with hard materials such as rocks as well as wet materials such as sludge.

The benefits of using a High Moisture Seal and Anti-Lock Shield

Without an HMS and Anti-Lock Shield, rollers can jam quite often, causing costly downtime and excessive replacement of the rollers and any damaged belts. They feature a grease-packed cavity behind the shield that acts as a barrier for any moisture or fine particle contaminants that may potentially get behind the disc. This simple yet effective solution:

  • Reduces or eliminates rollers seizing due to excess debris or material spillage
  • Reduces maintenance costs and downtime
  • Acts as a deflection shield against direct moisture pressure
  • Is manufactured using flexible and durable polymers
  • Is easily installed in the field
  • Is Available in 4”, 5”, and 6” diameters (CEMA B, C, D, E & F class rollers)
  • Can be added to any Luff roller

High Moisture Seal and Anti-Lock Shields are essential solutions for industries and applications with exposure to high humidity and/or excessive moisture. They are also ideal for applications when there is potential exposure to any fine particle contamination.
